Even if they breathe better, our feet are not always at the party in summer… Our advice is to preserve them from the inconvenience and show them off in the open air.

I walk in the right shoes.
A fan of flip flops or flip flops? OK for the beach, but no question of wearing them continuously during the holidays: the repeated clicking of the heels against the sole favours the horn. In addition, we must permanently contract the toes to avoid losing them, at the risk of ending up with claw toes. It is better to alternate with other sandals, such as strappy sandals, ideal for letting the feet breathe while holding the heel’s back held in place. We opt, if possible, for a small heel (2 to 6 cm) rather than flat sandals to stimulate the venous pump and thus avoid heavy legs. Does the wedge trend tempt you? They are chosen with a rope sole: not too hard, it allows you to keep a little flexibility in the front of the foot and limits the risk of sprains. To walk around town, yes to tiny sneakers, but relatively rigid and with a good sole: lightweight canvas sneakers do not absorb shocks enough, beware of knee pain and back pain if you walk a lot.

I don’t let the blisters hurt me anymore.
To escape it, we do not take new shoes on vacation. It is better, for example, to wear our hiking boots a few days before leaving to check that they are comfortable. If you feel painful contact areas, apply an anti-friction cream to the heel and toes as a preventive measure to limit overheating. You can also spread a thick layer of Homéoplasmine ointment (Boiron), which contains emollient petroleum jelly. Is the damage done? Above all, we resist the bad reflex of piercing the blister or removing the thick layer protecting raw skin. Instead, disinfect with an antiseptic spray or two pure drops of tea tree essential oil. Then, cover with a special anti-blister dressing (Compeed, Urgo, etc.) so as not to be embarrassed: their hydrocolloid material forms a second skin that insulates and prevents friction in the shoe not to aggravate the pain. On the other hand, we do not try to remove them before they come off naturally.
